Evaluation of Communication Infrastructures for Distributed Optimization of Virtual Power Plant Schedules

With the transition towards renewable energy resources, impact of small distributed generators (DGs) increases, leading to need actively stabilize distribution grids. DGs may be organized in virtual power plants (VPPs), where DGs’ schedules must coordinated enable VPP act as a single plant. One approach solving this problem is using multi-agent systems (MAS) offer autonomous, robust, and flexible control methods. The coordination such requires communication between agents. time required for depends on characteristics, determined by underlying infrastructure. In paper, we investigate influences wireless technologies CDMA450 LTE Advanced fully optimization heuristic COHDA, which used perform optimized scheduling VPP. use case under consideration adaptation provide flexibility regional congestion management delivery regionalized ancillary service market (rAS).
